Windsor, Connecticut – August 3, 1928

     On August 3, 1928, actor Fred Stone was piloting an airplane over Windsor, Connecticut, when it crashed in a field in the Poquonock section of that town.  Stone suffered broken bones in his legs and was admitted to a hospital in serious condition, but he survived his ordeal.    

     Stone was a famous vaudeville and later film actor.  He passed away in 1959.
