Fairhaven, Massachusetts – July 16, 1932

On July 16, 1932, an Ireland amphibian airplane, (Reg. No. NC185M), crashed into the roof of a private home and then went down in a wooded area known as Turkey Grove Swamp, off Alden Road, in north Fairhaven.  Although the aircraft suffered substantial damage, the pilot was not injured and walked out of the woods on his own.  A state aviation inspector who examined the aircraft reportedly felt it was the same airplane which struck and killed a man at the Fall River Airport on Memorial Day, 1931.
